The time has come to bring forth a comprehensive array of indigenous structures, as homogenizing the nomadic way can no longer prevail!
Some aspects of our work have been in building bigger structures and in turn complete sites; which incorporate these palace-tents as a focal point surrounded by smaller, more traditional live-in units - like a central temple which gathers the tribe around itself.
The idea behind all of this is to take indigenous structures and plans a bit beyond the level of the tent itself, as for example it would be incorrect for one to focus on the tent that Moses created for the Ark of the Covenant rather than on the fact that it held the focus of the tribe, or in fact the tribal godhead itself.
In order to try and see a vision of this kind come forth, we called the 2009 World Yurt Makers Conference Gathering to see a way forward which includes a more complete integration between the old and the new.
To accommodate this new overview we have had to drastically change the nature of our business. We are now making the nomadic way of life available on more levels than the tent only, and so are focusing on the making of centres for the people (Structures Undercover), the travel aspect of being a people on the move (Trans-formation) and finally the coming together ITSELF of people in movement, the free people, and their becoming the group mind. (Gathering Force).
